  • Remote for flash on tripod

Recently, I got a reflector umbrella from a friend, along with an adapter for fitting my cheap YN-468 flash and umbrella on my tripod.
But the whole thing is useless without a remote trigger. I need one that fits between the adaper (cold shoe) and the flash. Does anything like this exist?
My question might be a little unclear, so let me rephrase:
Obviously, my flash doesn’t trigger with the camera when mounted in the cold shoe of the adapter. How can I fit a remote that takes the place of that adapter? Or can I buy a remote that is made specifically for that?
    My camera is a 550D / T2i.

    Thanks in advance 🙂

ps. am I using the shoe terms correct? I’ve never used my 550D for anything but landscape photography, so I’m not very experienced with lighting and reflector termonology.

    *update*
So I found what I was looking for… sortof. The (a seagull SYK’s) does kinda what I needed, only thing is that it’s triggered by an optical sensor, or a PC sync. The 550D flash doesn’t do well on triggering the optical, and it doesn’t support PC, so it’s close, but not excactly there.

    Anybody?
