Remote Focus Unit for the Canon 5D?
Does anyone know of any remote focusing unit that would be good for the 5D/7D? I would like to use the 5D on a steadicam and crane and be able to have the focusing capability. Start and Stop/iris would be a bonus if anyone has any tips or ideas for this but at this point even just having control over the focus would be great.

There was a thread about this just a couple of days ago- look down the forum a bit. Basically this depends greatly on the type of lens you are using. Do remote follow focus/iris system exist for lenses that can be used on a 5D- yes. Is it simple or cheap- often not.

A new alternative is using an iPad or iphone to remotely control your DSLR camera even in video mode, here’s one company with just such a product:

The only issue there might be is if focus is one of the controllable elements, not sure

that’s an ok solution for stills but too slow for something like follow focus during a motion picture shot.
