    Hi-

I’m having a heck of time capturing in FCP 5.1.2 with my brand new HVC BR-HD50 HDV deck. I have some HDV footage that seems to be playing back correctly from the deck. The timecode I’m seeing on the deck itself seems very consistent. When I plug the deck into FCP using the Remote port I get really shaky timecode and the capture window keeps shutting down saying “You’ve entered a new tape into the unit…” I have been able to successfully capture some clips but the timecode keeps jumping around and I keep getting that aforementioned messge. I can only imagine what it will be like to re-capture.

I’m using an AJA Kona LH with the capture preset set at 720p 59.94 DVCProHD and the device control set to AJA Kona LH: 59.94 Panasonic VTR. I’ve tried different device control presets and nothing seems to work. I’m feeding video from my component signal and audio from the RCA outputs.

The audio is also creating a separate issue because it’s way out of sync when I drop it into the timeline. I’d love any suggestions on this as well.

Thanks as always, cow, for your help. You’re a lifesaver.

Any luck with the answer to this question? Having exactly the same problem.

    Thanks & GL,

I just installed an LH card in my g5 and managed to capture 2 tapes to dvcprohd, without problem. When I put my third tape in the deck to capture I started getting exactly the same results it constantly flickers between VTR OK and VTR Trouble, then goes to “A new tape has been inserted”. I was originaly using the aja panasonic deck 59.97 control setting. I’m hoping to find an answer as well to this problem.

Sounds like it’s time for all of us to contact AJA tech support on this one. I had to go an HDV Easy Setup to work around the problem. But they are terrific and if they know about it I’m confident they’ll update their drivers.
