Relinking Nightmare
Posted by Leah Attard on January 6, 2008 at 10:39 pmHI there,
I’ve conformed a full res. copy of my programme – but have realised that I should have conformed a slightly amended later copy – 98% of the material is the same but I have had no success in relinking the newer timeline with the full res. material.
Any ideas?

January 7, 2008 at 4:36 amDid you have mutlicam? If so, decompose your sequence and try again. Also make sure the bin with all of the uprezzed clips is open in the project you are trying to relink in.

January 7, 2008 at 8:58 amNo matter multicam, decomposing is always better…
If the sequence won’t link, you can export the new, offline clips as ALE and import that .ALE with the second import options tab set to ‘merge evens with known sources’

January 7, 2008 at 8:40 pmWasn’t multicam-ing – the main issue seems to be the Avid’s ability to see the external drive, patchy at best.
I got the two talking on two nights ago and left well enough alone until today when I had to rebott the Avid, since then, the media that I had sucessfully re-linked is now showing up as offline and will not re-link under any setting. The drive is mounted correctly, the media is present on the drive, root directories and files are all correctly positioned.

January 7, 2008 at 9:28 pmMore info,
Came back after tea this evening to a quite a few error mesages.
On boot up they appear as follows
1. The current active Keyboard settings does not correspond to the current Keybaord Input Locale, else some of the keys might not execute their desired function. (Didn’t reset these to my knowledge)
And the real problem…
2. Exception: ‘omfiHPDomain_INIT_FAILED’ Anerror occured scanning the file E:/OMFI Mediafiles/file name here.wav
I then get an option to quarantine or ignore this or all (either way when I open my sequence all the media is offline)
Tech details: The E drive is an external portable GRaid drive that I was using without hassle, over the last two days, I conformed my project at full res to it and untill I logged out this evening the Avid was working and reading the media fine.
I have tried deleting the database files on the E drive to no avail.
Any ideas?

January 7, 2008 at 9:42 pmyou have corrupt files and/or wrong file permissions.
Set the owner to ‘everyone’ (or Administrator, i forgot) and set permission right.
I don’t know how you got it, we’ve seen it here on clients FW / USB drives. Never on our own SCSI nor SATA raids. The keyboard issue ‘should’ not be related, but i would not trust that system anymore and do a total rebuild of the OS and Avid, then start troubleshooting the rest.
But you can start with the normal rituals like trashing MC state and such.
Or, do a roll back to a previous state (F8 on boot or something)And both have nothing to do with your relinking trouble…

January 7, 2008 at 11:15 pmI’m pretty sure the .pmr is the cause of me not being able to see the media in the project have deleted the msmmmob.mdb and msmFMID.pmr files and the Avid has rebuilt them.
What do you mean by MC?Don’t Cry Yet
