I’m not sure if this is an AE issue or an Automatic Duck issue, but…

I have Automatic Duck that turns Final Cut sequences into AE projects. I had only used it a few times when I noticed that the names of the clips in the AE project are truncated to 31 characters, which seems to make it impossible to relink the footage–I don’t know what specific file to find.

This may be an AE question, but how do I know the full name of the source file AE is looking for? Obviously, AE knows the file’s full name, but I need to know it so I can navigate to the appropriate clip. Or is there a way, like on FCP, to get AE to search on a specific drive/location to find missing media?

Also, is there a way to get Automatic Duck not to truncate the names? Or is that a limitation of AE?

A lot of questions, I know.

    Thanks for your help.

    David

Use the Reveal File command from within AE and take notes

May also want to use Collect File feature to reduce the file path length

Where do I find the “Reveal File” command–is it the reveal in bridge command? It’s greyed out because the link is broken. And, if the link is broken how do I find out the exact name of the file AE is looking for. When I use the Replace Footage, it just shows me the name AE has, which is truncated, so I don’t know the complete name of the file AE is looking for. (It must know the full name or it would have never been linked in the first place.)

    Thanks again.

    David
