    Hi fellow tekkies-

I am working on a project that has 2 edit systems with 2 exact copies of the media – the systems are in 2 different cities and need to work in conjunction with each other.

I am trying to figure out the relinking rules as there seems to be issues shifting project files back and forth.

One edit system is being run on a on a desktop MAC and has 3 internal drives that are raided together. The other edit system is a laptop and has 3 external firewire drives that are working as single drives -thus both file paths are different due to configuration.

When I pick up the project file from the desktop system and put it on the laptop system – I assume I have to relink the files as they have a different path – this is not too difficult as it does it in big chunks. Sometimes I only relink to the folder I am working on – so when I send the project back to the desktop system only that folder needs to be relinked.

The issue is that when I relink files on a laptop system, and save the project, shut down reboot and everything appears to be fine. But I have sent then sent the laptop system out in the field for screenings the files become unlinked. Any idea’s or suggestions?

    Thanks!!
    Roz
