So I bought Automatic Duck so I can move a project from FCP to Avid Media Composer. I exported the sequences. But the settings I used were – Video: link to existing media and Audio: create .aiff files. My thought process behind this was that I would import the sequence into Avid and then link all my media by AMA. But when I attempted this I could not relink the media.

Is this because there is different metadata coming from the master clips made from Automatic Duck than the AMA files?

I guess I was just trying to find a faster way to import all my media into Avid rather then using Automatic Duck and exporting all the media to mxf files, which if anyone has used Automatic Duck, takes a long time depending on how much ftg you are working with, in this case I am.

Don’t know why, but linking via AMA when you Duck a sequence is sporatic at best. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. Even the creators of Automatic Duck admit this is a puzzler.

You might be stuck transcoding. But then again, with the Duck you only get the sequence and the media in the sequence, not ALL the media nor the bin structure. You might need to start over…or stick with FCP until this project is done.
