  • Relinking after a crash.

I am working on a 2 hour long doc. Most of my footage are stills. The stills are tif files and frame size does not exceed 4000 pixels. I have roughly 800 stills in my timeline and the workflow is pretty smooth except when the computer crashes. Whenever that happens, I have to re-link the same 300 files every time. I have tried to reconnect them with “locate” instead of “find” but it does not help. I still had to re-link them after every crash. I have also tried to reimport entire folders and recut the stills into the timeline, but I still have to reconnect after every crash. It’s always the same files.
Does anyone have an idea as to why I have to reconnect every time I crash? And what can I do to solve the problem? My next thought is to try to solve the problem by exporting the whole project with media manager on a separate drive…
I’m working on FCP 6.0.6 and I’m working in HDV1080i60

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Morning Dave.
The footage was left as HDV. I did not convert it at ProRes 422 (Is that a mistake?) But my render compressor and timeline compressor are in ProRes 422.
The files that go off line are all tif. files. I have no problem with the actual footage. Only the stills go offline.
Is the length of my sequence the problem?
    Thank you.

    Jules
