Running thousands of files to create media for an offline. I can’t seem to get final cut to automatically relink them due compressor generating extension. I’ve tried rename-it but then FCP doesn’t recognize it as a QT. I’ve tried hide the extension, like the ones generated by FCP, using Show Info but FCP is still seeing the extension there by not matching the name.

I’m exporting a batch with the setting “Source Media File” not “Souce Media Extension”.

I usually force relink, but with this many it will take a full day. Am I missing something obvious?

    On FCP 5.1.2, OSX 10.4.8

    Thanks,
    Christian

You should use Media Manager for this purpose and not Compressor.

    Then everything will link properly.

Right tool for the right job.

There is a way within Compressor to make it not append anything to the file name. Or you can make a droplet and set it to not name the files that way.

Else, if you’ve already done it, you can get R-name and rename these files using find and replace or renumber it, or append something before or after the name. Its free.
