Relink files into DaVinci from External
Am I missing something here in preferences or whatever. I may have a good week editing and then all of a sudden my files disappear. I spend an hour or more to relink all the footage. My iMac has external drives hooked up. They are always on when I start editing yet files disappear! All the file folders are numbered and dated on the external harddrive. Within DaVinci all the folders follow the same system making it easy to reconnect. But why are they losing touch?

Have you set your power management on the iMac so that drives do not go to sleep ever? Sudden file disappearance will happen if you allow computers to snooze, especially drives

We have a proper NAS attached to our Resolve system (v16) and with some projects, the media just goes offline for no reason during a session. I’ve seen this in the Resolve forums. The storage never gets disconnected or sleeps, and the media is in the media pool. We just get the red Offline indicator in the timeline. Sometimes selecting some media in the Media Pool fixes it, other times restarting the application is necessary. It’s very time consuming and frustrating. It can happen 2-10 times a day.

Thank you Paul. It is time consuming with hours of folders to relink. The disconnect may happen once or twice during the week but not as severe as you. I’ll take your advice and start up again. Thanks
