Reliable card for 550d?
Ok, in 2 weeks were supposed to be going to a press conferance and will be taking 1 2 1 interviews aswell as record the press conferance. We will be taking the Canon 550d and have the lens etc, im just trying to work out what card i should purchase for the job. I already have a Sandisk 8gb Extreme i got with the DSLR but im considering getting 2 x 16GB cards. Now the question is what brand card is reliable but also quick, taking into context its a press conferance and DSLR has a 12 min limit.
Ive been looking around and initally was considering https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0037FLUYU/ – Sandisk Extreme Video – not sure if reliable some some is some not while some say speeds are not true and more like 15mb

A friend also recomended https://www.scan.co.uk/products/16gb-kingston-secure-v2-digital-high-capacity-card-class-10 and some other friend recomended getting any basic card saying they all come from the same factory. I was hoping someone would help me pick a card or give me your opinion on how you have found tjem when you have used them.

Conventional wisdom is that SanDisk are the most reliable, and that a minimum for video minimum is the SanDisk Extreme which are 60 MB/s. They also make a Extreme Pro which is 100 MB/s, but I couldn’t tell you if those are overkill or not. I can tell you that I have two 16G and one 8G SanDisk Extreme and have not had any problems with the card.
I would be very hesitant to use generic cards. I have heard some anecdotal horror stories about cheap cards, and it doesn’t sound fun. Remember, your cards ARE your footage. If your cards fails, you have lost everything. Of all the places to skimp I would suggest that the cards are not the place to do it.
