so after talking with my client in Spain, who works on an Avid, we figured out that the reason he can’t use the quicktimes I’ve sent him is because they remain on Quicktime v. 6.5. whereas I’m on 7.5.5.
How do I uninstall my version of quicktime and reinstall this older version?
And, what if any, dangers can this lead to with the latest version of FCP Studio 2?

There is a HUGE danger. QT is an integral system component…it isn’t as simple as removing and installing an older version. You need to reinstall the OS and that earlier version. But then you run into issues of FCP needing a certain version of QT in order to work properly…as QT is the main engine in FCP in terms of dealing with media.

What format…codec…are the clips you are sending? Might not be version of QT at all but rather that FCP installs codecs that other machines don’t have access to, like HDV, DVCPRO HD and XDCAM.

the latest codec that they asked me to give them is H264. why they can’t use mpeg2 is beyond me…
i am waiting from an email from them, but i am guessing they are on an older version of avid which can’t upgrade to newest quicktime?
