I’m running Vegas 12 build 394. The recent upgrade to 394 helped with the P2 files and the audio situation. Before build 394 the audio would show up on the timeline but would be inaudible.

Having finally gotten to the point where I can actually import P2 files, with usable audio, directly into Vegas, now I want timecode.

First, in all long continuous recordings the files come in as 4.18 GB segments but play continuously with no interruption or glitch. That’s a good thing. But each 4.18 GB segment has timecode that starts at 00:00:00:00 and ends at 00:12:23:05. Actually all recordings start at 00:00:00:00 timecode.

This presents a problem when a burned in timecode DVD of the raw footage is given to the client for edit decision making.

    Any solutions?

I am a P2 Card user also. I have the same problem. Do you also have a problem with the order of the clips. Given the naming of the clips such as 0001ghd 0002edh etc. SVP skips a clip and puts that clip somewhere deep into the import bin and I have to search for it. Any suggestions here… do you have the same problem?

I have not noticed that vegas re-sorts the clips making consecutive clips out of sequence. Have you tried sorting your clips in the project media window using he “modified” column? (sort by time and date) That works for me.

And yes! I just tried sorting by clip names and yes, you are right, the clips aren’t necessarily in sequence. It may have to do with the alphanumeric naming convention used.

Its a brand new video format import feature, so you would
expect some minor teething issues, but as you can see its
getting there. In the next update all these flaws will be gone.

Completely understood and agreed. Just wanted to know if the P2 timecode issue was unique to my system or everyone was having the same issue.
