Hi guys, I hope someone can help.
I recently ordered Vegas pro 10
I originally had a trial version installed, I registered it with its serial number

For some strange reason even though it was registered the program still showed up as trial version on startup, though under about this product it showed it was registered.
As of today it wont let me open it and wont accept the serial number etc.
Also when i go to my account on sony site pro10 does not show as registered.
Help please as I need this for a current urgent project

    Thanks John

I have seen this problem with using the trial and applying a serial number. I would suggest that you completely uninstall the trial and then download the latest Vegas Pro 10c update from the Sony site and install that. It should take your serial number without a problem.

Already tried all the above as suggested John. For some reason even after uninstalling the trial and reinstalling the downloaded 10c version it still opens up with “your trial has expired” and when I try to input the serial that i got via email from Sony when I purchased the full downloadable version it says “the application will restart to complete the upgrade process” and then it takes me back to the same “your trial has expired” box. Any ideas??

[John Power] “… and when I try to input the serial that i got via email from Sony when I purchased the full downloadable version it says “the application will restart to complete the upgrade process” and then it takes me back to the same “your trial has expired” box.”

The retail version does not ask you to restart. It prompts for a serial up front and doesn’t even load if you don’t have one. That tells me that the trial is still installed somehow.

    I would try this:

    • Reboot the computer to make sure Vegas is not stuck in memory.
    • Uninstall the retail version.
    • Install the trial version.
    • Uninstall the trial version.
    • Reinstall the retail version.

This will re-establish the trial files and then remove them properly. The retail version should start by asking for your serial number. If you get a message about the trial being expired, you should probably contact Sony support. Only they can figure out how to fix the bad installation.

You could try running a registry cleaner after uninstalling but i dislike registry cleaners because they often remove too much and break programs.

Thanks for your suggestion John. Unfortunately after trying all the above it still comes up with the “your vegas pro trial has expired” box and it still won’t let me enter the serial.

I have given up and have sent the details to Sony support…….hopefully they can let me know what has gone wrong….probably me inserting the serial into the trial version for a starter??
    Thanks again for your time.
