  • Reflective confetti particles without plug-ins

    Is there a way to make reflective confetti particles without plug-ins in AE CS6? I have a solid emitting square particles with CC Particle World.
    I tried to use the Effect>Stylize>CC Plastic, but I could not see any shine nor relfection.

    cc particle world has an option to render the reflection.

    i would normally do this on two layers, so duplicate the solid with particle world on it. click the ‘options’ text at the top of the effect settings on the duplicate solid. then select ‘rendering’ and then select ‘reflection on floor’.

    you should now see a reflection of the particle system on the floor plane of the effect.

    typically, i might reduce the opacity of that solid, add some blur or other adjustment to separate the reflection from the original system.

    note, you can also duplicate just the effect (on the same layer) but in the ‘rendering’ settings of the second effect, check the option for ‘composite with original’, but it makes it harder to refine the reflection.

    Is there a way to assign a reflective material to the CC particle World particles?

    reflective particles… sorry i misread your original post.

    i don’t know a way to make the particles truly reflective. you can use a texture layer to texture some particle types (the particle types that have ‘textured’ as a prefix), and you can have that be an animated texture so you could try to fake it.

    i’ve done ‘glittery’ particle systems that way, but the particles did reflect an environment or anything like that…
