I’m trying to smooth out a dolly shot I did. Here’s the shot:

The first time the video plays, it’s the raw footage of the shot as it was taken. The second time, it’s gone through the After Effects Warp Stabilizer with 50% smoothness.

As you can see, in the warp-stabilized version of the shot, it zooms out weirdly when it gets to the jersey on the wall, and the smash zoom comes out looking a little strange too. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I could fix this? I’ve tried only stabilizing the shot up until the jersey, but it’s really hard to transition back into the un-stabilized footage without some awkward speed bump.

Subspace warp can get a bit wierd on complex shots like yours – try using Position Scale Rotation or only Position from the Method pulldown.

You may want to try not using Autoscale (in the Framing pulldown) to help the zooming problem. You may then need to keyframe scale the footage manually.

I watched the shot several times, and I could see no reason to stabilize anything except for the very last bit, after the smash-zoom.
