  • Referring to Comp time within a Time Remapped Comp

I found an easy way around it, but I have a Precomp that uses Dan Ebberts’ Marker script to timeremap on markers.

It is a TEXT layer, which has master properties, so I can use it many times with different texts and markers. For one layer, I want to implement an If Else statement, to give it’s master property “Source Text” a different value based on the Master Composition it’s time (so the comp where this precomp is in). But even if I pick whip an external Null Layer with a Slider Control set to TIME, it will still always use the Precomp it’s time value.

Of course this time value is always swapping depending on the Marker’s I’ve set, it will trigger animations within that precomp.

I just copied the precomp and used keyframes. But my curiousity asks me, what is going on here? Why will it take the precomp’s time even if i directly point to the other Comp’s time?

Can you show the expression you’re using, and maybe a screenshot or two of how you have this set up across comps?
