So long story short I have a timeline full of clips, and the timeline was set to the wrong frame size. When I try to change it to the correct size in the settings tab, it shrinks my clip and trying to keyframe it large makes it pixilated. When I try clicking on the clip to reference the original clip, it is also disfigured.

Does anyone know a workflow to reference the original clip in its native form and copy it to a proper timeline? maybe using the timecodes? or have any other suggestions

Try selecting all your clips in the timeline, right click (ctrl-click) and choose ‘Remove attributes’. Make sure Distort and Basic Motion are checked (if not greyed out) and click OK.

You will loose all scale and positioning you have done to the clips but it should correct your footage.
