  • Reference Monitor Window: Play back along with program?

Posted by Keith Moreau on February 4, 2011 at 12:12 am

I’m into color correction mode now, I have the “All scopes” choice on the reference monitor window. It only shows the values of the Program monitor when I have that paused, and only then if I have the reference monitor set to ‘chase.’

Is there a way I can get the scopes to play back in real time along with the program monitor? It would really help my workflow to quickly find problem spots in the sequence. I used to do this all the time in FCP.

    Thanks for any advice.

I recently submitted a bug against this same behavior.

    Thanks Todd.

Do you have any workarounds for me?

My initial thought is to put scopes in the program monitor and then use the reference for the program. At least I’ll be able to ‘scrub’ through the sequence.

Sorry, but I don’t have a suggestion for a workaround just now. I’ll let you know if I come up with anything.

Yes, that will put the picture on delay and the scopes will change with the sequence playback, though it won’t play back as smoothly as the video would on many systems.

However, it would advance with the material at 1/2 to 1/3 frame rate on even most systems on the basic end of the spectrum I would think…

I’m having this same behaviour with PP CS5.5. Has this problem (the reference monitor not playing along with the ganged program monitor) been resolved? Or is it just me?
