ref sync? – please educate me
We have an NTSC sync box pluggen into our Kona 2, our Io and our DBeta. Someone told me I should have it, it seems to work with all SD material, and I never thought about it. Please tell me what it does and how it works. Now we are attempting to downconvert UC 23.98 1080 HD to anamorphic SD with the Kona 2. First I have to set my video output to 29.97 1080 in FCP (the K2 control panel will not let me convert 23.98 to 525i). Then I have to set sync to freerun. Wen I edit to tap (Dbeta) it looks good to me, but the house doing the MPEG-2 compression tells me the picture has shifted down 4 scanlines and I need to sync my DBeta and K2? When I attempt this the HD SDI output jumps around and the SD SDI output has a green line on the bottom of the picture?
