Reel Smart Motion Blur applied to static objects
Hi all,
I’m working in AE CS5 and trying to add motion blur to a still image within my sequence. The sequence has been tracked in 3d space and a camera has been created. The still image moves with respect to the camera but has no motion changes of its own – which is why RSMB doesn’t seem to be responding to it. I know one solution is to render the sequence out and then add RSMB but this will not work for my situation.

If the object is moving relative to the camera then you should be able to use AE’s native motion blur. Is there some reason that won’t work?

Solution Found! I took the layer i wanted blurred and pre-comped that with the 3d camera, then nested that comp in my main sequence as a 2d object and then added RSMB.
Thanks Darby. The native motion blur did work but I was having trouble getting the effect I wanted out of it.
