  • Reel numbers disappear on recapture

Posted by Jeff Coleman on October 27, 2006 at 6:31 pm

I recaptured a few DV sequences to 1080 29.97 HD. The batch capture worked great until it was done. Then the reel numbers disappeared in the browser. The time code numbers all went to zero just like users report in another post here. I still have a few clips in the project that weren’t recaptured. They still have their timecode and reel numbers. Trash prefs didn’t fix.

How can I get this fixed?

If anyone else experienced this would you please provide your QT, FCP and OS versions?
    QT 7.1.3, FCP 5.1.1, OS X.4.7

    Love,
    Jeff

YES…. This is a serious bug in FCP. Don’t have any idea if its FCP, Mac OSX, or Quicktime but its there.

The only fix to this that I have found was to recreate you clip (or clips) from scratch, and then deleting the corrupted clips.

Are your tapes drop or non drop? I get this sometimes along with a warning before capture stating something to the effect of digitizing a drop frame clip into non drop frame media or vice versa. FUnny thing is, i can’t change whether or not to capture drop/non drop as the option is greyed out in the rs-422 capture preset of AJA io. Sometimes the timecode stays, sometimes it dissppears. I’d fix it if I could, but I can’t.

The only time I ever have a problem with this is when tapes are recorded in drop frame.

    It’s really nerve racking.

    Tapes are non drop frame.
