  Reel from Filename & Timelines with Handles

  Two quick things that have come up over last couple of weeks that gave me a bit of grief –

  1) It seems like if there’s Reel metadata in the file, it overrides the “assist from filename” feature. I had transcoded Red footage that needed to be graded, but it was renamed and I actually needed to use the non-red filenames. I set up my */%R.* pattern but the files all came in having their reel data instead. Has this happened to anyone else? Is this expected behavior?

  2) When creating a timeline with handles it seems that all clip versions revert to “default” – is there a way to preserve the grade version I have at the time of timeline creation? Usually if I have to export handles it’s at the end of the grade and currently I have to switch between the two and find out which version I need to set which clips to.
