Why wouldn’t it import? If you’re importing to FCP 5.0.4 or 5.1, it should go straight in…

    >>>Why wouldn’t it import?

That’s my question. I’ve done the clip repair, I can now play it with the camera, but when I try to import in FCP, I get the error message “One or more P2 clips failed to import; probable incomplete or corrupt clips.” Next I’ll try to install the P2 Viewer software on my PC and see if I can wrangle the clip that way.

    Jan? Any ideas???

Double check the Capture Settings in final cut are set to the same format as the clip (e.g. DVCPRO HD/24P). It seems strange that this should matter, but apparently it does.

    Joe,

Just like the camera cared that the format matched up, so will FCP. Match your import to the format you recorded it at, which is not 24P but is either 60P or 30P, but you should be able to figure this out by how the camera identified it. Once you have it into the Quicktime, you will be able to import it into the timeline that you want it on.

Thanks for the reply Jan. I’ve tried changing the settings in FCP now. Still doesn’t work, after matching the settings in FCP to the clip info from the card. I can play the clip on the P2 card, but can not get it to import into FCP. Is there any way to force the clip to open in another program that might export a Quicktime?

    Hi,

I think the thing to do at this point is to copy your contents folder along with the last clip to a DVD and send it to me.

Send me an email off line at crittendenj at us.panasonic.com
