I’m an occasional user of Resolve but one thing that surprised me was when trying to reduce a screen size from 1920 x 1080 to 1280 x 720 ended with the original 1080 2GB mp4 being inflated to a 720 5GB .mov. The issue being the significant size increase.

I used the standard Export to Youtube option to create a H.264 file in mono as it was a Zoom recording. Data rate 7.12 Mbits/s, AAC, 4800 Hz. The original mp4 had “current size 1440 x 810” via get info in QuickTime and I don’t know what that refers to as its format is listed as 1920 x 1080. Any ideas what’s going on here?

If your exported file is bigger, then your exported format/codec is using a bigger bit rate than the original file. If you want a smaller file then set a lower bit rate.
