Hey, I’m a 3rd year television student looking for some advice.

I know gain is pretty much impossible because it is shot with it on. But i am curious if anyone knows any tricks or filters to maybe help reduce the look of it when editing it.

any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

and cheers to all the FCP editors out there! im excited to get into the industry!

A subtle blur filter can help to soften the noise.

When you say ‘gain’ you mean the footage you shot was over-exposed? Detail lost like this is impossible to recover. One of the most powerful tool in FCP for ‘matching’ shots for exposure, however, is the color corrector. It’s not just for correcting white balance. Look at correcting the gamma and lift here with the sliders to mitigate the problem a little.

The gain setting on the camera i think someone had changed the low setting to +3 or +6 and our camera person did not realize it i guess. I am playing with color corrector, a slight blur and fooling around with the gamma… thanks for the help!
