    Hi

Final Cut Pro is no longer connecting to media on my main RAID 0 hard drive. I suspect the media has become corrupted. The drive is still verifyable via Disk Utility so have been advised to reformat drive and start again. But that’s a lot of media to say good bye to! I have the HDV tapes and the Project files. My question is how do I redigitize the tapes so that everything is on-line again? Can I reconstitute the empty Project clips into their original on-line state?

Could someone point me to a relevant post or advise?
Is this a Media Manager task?

    Thanks
Much appreciated for any help offered.
    Regards

    Wayne

    What brand is your RAID?

Is it by any chance one that uses port multiplier technology?

Do you have Disk Warrior? If not get it immediately, if so, run it immediately.

I encourage you to make every attempt to determine exactly the source of the problem, as it will only happen again if simply recapture to the same system and same RAID.

    Hi David

The RAID is a LaCie Biggest S2S – probably a bit old by today’s standards I guess?
Some of the individual media quicktime files are accessable and copyable but most are not. The machine hangs when those suspect files are selected forcing a hard reboot.

Unfortunately Disk Warrior is not easily obtainable where i live and work. Are there any alternatives?

Will a reformat not fix the problem? These are all old projects so its not absolutely mission critical if I lose the media data if I can reconstitute the empty clips later through redigitizing?

    Thanks for the advice
    Regards

Nope, there is nothing that really does the same job. I know it’s not cheap, but it is available for download on the Internet.
