I am working remotely on a mac book pro in DV resloution on a project which will soon be onlined in kona 10 bit 1080i. As I don’t have the kona card on my laptop I don’t have those flavors of format/compression of the drop down menu on the media manager. I would like to deliver the HD project from my laptop and avoid another editor on the other end having to prep the session using the media manager- what is the best way to do this?

I do have another project that I recently onlined kona 10bit 1080i. I duplicated it and pasted my dv material into a duplicated timeline. All text scaled properly – just the clips are still in DV format. I’m wondering if they batch capture this timeline if they can just change the capture settings at the time of digitizing (and skirt the media manager all together).

    thanks
    Jason

I work with editors who edit in DV and then I recapture in HD uncompressed with a Decklink card. I use Media Manager and I also have the DV timeline open (but media offline) so I can check tricky issues like time remapping.

The other trick is I get a QT file in DV codec from the offline and import it onto the top video track of the HD online sequence. It makes a nice small picture in picture so I can check sync and issues that might have gone astray in Media Manager.

All that said, I have found Media Manager to be the best way scale up the timeline to the HD codec you need for online.
