RED/BLUE have no Windows 7 support?
Posted by Paul James chatman on January 17, 2011 at 9:43 amI just got my AMD Phenom II X4 965, and was wanting to see how RED/BLUE performs on it, but the RED 4.3.3 plugins don’t show up in Vegas pro 10 64bit and BLUE 2.5.2 just starts and then shuts down. No pop-up; in the Task manger it appears then vanishes.
Do I need to install the 32bit Vegas Pro 10 on this machine as well in order to use RED? What about BLUE? 🙁

January 17, 2011 at 10:48 amThe issue is not with Windows 7. Your guess is right, you need to use Vegas 32 bit until RED 5 ships. Another option is to use RED standalone. The plugin has to match the app – 32 bit for now, 64 bit in the future.

This should not be happening. I’m running Boris BLUE 2.5.2.582 without any problems on Windows 7 64-bit as a 32-bit application. Something is wrong with your computer configuration (perhaps video card drivers) if BLUE is shutting down on you. It should work.

January 18, 2011 at 8:22 amI have an nVIDIA GeForce 9500GT PCIE2card with 1GB VRAM:

But I think it’s weird that BLUE ran fine under XP with the GF7600GS 512mb, and with W7 and this card it loads with this dialog, but then just starts seemingly OK.
Graphics Card: GeForce 9500 GT/PCI/SSE2

Hardware Status: Your system’s video card driver version is not supported by BorisFX.
Critical Testing: Successful.– A component of your system has been detected which is not officially supported by Boris FX for OpenGL based rendering.
– Blues’s OpenGL state may be manually set from either it’s Preferences or Preview Menu.
For more information please see “Using OpenGL” in the Boris Blue Help Menu
Soo…go figure….Once I’m done playing with the 9500GT, I’ll replace it with the Readeon HD5450 and report back.
