    Hi,
New to Red and in sorting out my workflow it’s raised another question re Log & Transfer.

I’ve downloaded Redcine-x Pro to transcode the footage to ProRes (proxy) plus I installed the Red FCP plug-in. So far so good.

My first step was to test two transcoding paths:
    1. Via Redcine xPro
    2. Via FCP Log & Transfer

My research told me that the advantage of using Redcine x Pro was that it would be a lot faster than the FCP Log & Transfer. This is my first confusion/question:
In my tests, the FCP Log & Transfer is about 95% faster than Redcine xPro. In other words the Redcine x Pro is so slow that it’s almost unworkable (about 8 hours to transcode 15 minutes of footage.)
What’s the deal with that? Anyone experienced similar issues.

My 2nd issue is with the FCP log and transfer. I’m trying to transcode to a ProRes Proxy of 1920 x 1080 but I can’t find anywhere in the Log & Transfer Preferences to specify this. It automatically transcodes the clips to 2240 x 960. So, despite it being fast, I can’t get the size I want.
    Any thoughts on this?

    Specs:
    Macbook Pro –
    OSX: 10.8.3
    2.2 GHz Intel Core i7
    RAM: 8GB
    FCP 7.0.3

    Thank you

Anyone? Should I ask this in the Final cut basics?
