RED proxies in Premiere Pro
Hi All! I’m editing with Premiere Pro v15 on a MacBook Pro 2019, 2.3GHZ 8 Core i9 Processor with 32 GB memory. I received 8K RED footage and made Pro Res 422 1920×1080 proxies to work with but my sequence is all stuttery so I cannot edit. This occurs even after I render the whole sequence. I’m definitely editing with the proxy files since I took the original media offline. Why would this sequence not be playing? Please help!

Where did you create your proxies?
Within Premiere?Where are the footies during the editorial?
My only experience working with 8K RED is in FCPX proxied to ProRes.
A few features and honestly I gave up using a laptop after a few days.
Mostly done in a 2013 MP D700 w64GB.

I created the proxies from Premiere. I’m working from an external SSD. I moved to an iMac and it was fine. Not sure why my laptop cannot handle it.

There is no way I can do any of this on a local drive so where are your files living?
What kind of external SSD?
Anytime I use a Mac laptop for DIT, I make sure to have the fastest possible drive setups.
Basically, with mine, it’s Thunderbolt 2 using a Sonnet PCI (SSDs) box.
It’s an old 2015 MBP so all the help I can get.
