Red Giant Instant HD
Posted by Daveyg on October 7, 2006 at 1:51 pmHey all I downloaded the trial Instant HD. Using a Panasonic DVC 30. How would I turn my footage from interlaced into progressive (they say thats the first step)
Is the program capabale of doing what it says instantly. I have a 720 by 480 video. I used Instant HD on a 1080 x 720 composition. It didnt fill in all the way and doesnt look great.
they have a demo that looked awesome. Thanks

To convert from interlaced to progressive, interpret as per normal. And drop the footage into a normal comp – 720×480. Then render out without fields. The last step is the only difference from what you would normally do – assuming that you always render to fields.[daveyg] “I used Instant HD on a 1080 x 720 composition. You must be alluding to 1280×720. There is an option for InstandHD to Fill 1280×720. Use that and it should fill up the comp nicely.

October 7, 2006 at 4:36 pmIt’s in the Render Queue, in the render settings. If I recall, rendering fields is “off” by default.
To access the render queue, either choose composition>add to render queue, or composition>make movie.
Check the help section on rendering, and fields as well.
Sometimes you need to manually interpret footage: select the file in the Project Window, then file>interpret footage>main. That should be in the help, too.

October 7, 2006 at 5:39 pmYou can’t do HD DVDs with Encore, nor Blue Ray discs. There’s more to it than just changing the video resolution. Neither of the lowend or midrange programs such as Nero or DVD-Studio-pro will give you a HD DVD/ BDR 100% compliant to the standards specified by the respective forums. To my knowledge, only Sonic’s DVD Producer/ Scenarist HD versions will do that and they are still officially in Beta status (though of course the studios already use them). Lastly, you would still need a HD DVD or BDR burner, and they are rare as gold, expensive and stioll plagued by problems. Sorry, what you want is close to impossible to do at this point. Maybe in a year or even longer…

I suggest you check out the COW’s DVD Authoring forum. Lots of new tools out there and the folks there will be able to assist you. Don’t forget to do a search first before posting.HTH
