Hello! And apologies in advance if this is either stupid or an obviously answerable question.

We have some footage we know was shot 100 FPS on a RED camera. However when imported into Premiere (properly! Through the media browser and everything) it is reading at 23.976 FPS. I can do some amount of speeding it up by the rightish percentage and all of that jazz, but it still looks a little stuttery – and I’m just not sure if i’m missing something obvious.

    Thanks in advance!

Did you check if the footage is shot at 100fps in a 100fps container?

Could be it is 100 fps in a 24fps container.

Check the metadata outside of premiere like in the Red grading application, the name slipped my mind.

    Hope it helps,

EDIT: AH I worked it out, the footage is looking great now. Thanks so much for your help!

That’s a great shout, thank you. And yes, it looks like the project base is 23.976 whereas the recorded frame rate is 96. Do we think I need to reinterpret the footage before working with it then?

Gonna have to play the idiot card here and just say it’s my first time working with RED footage in absolutely ages!

Use REDCINE-X PRO for FIRST LIGHT or just to media peep the footage before going into any NLE.

Some weird stuff happens on set and I would get a nice surprise once imported into an NLE 😛
