  • RED footage mono audio playing only out of left speaker

Posted by Brandon Adams on March 23, 2012 at 6:00 pm

I’m editing some RED footage and I’m having trouble with the audio. Playing a clip in the Source window: the audio is centered. Putting that clip into a sequence: the mono track only plays out of the left speaker.

I can’t apply a fill left because it’s not a stereo track. I can’t change the map audio settings for a clip (greyed out).

Anyone know how I can get the mono track to play as mono (centered) rather than only left in the sequence?

    Thanks!!

if your in need of a “workaround” export the audio,
bring into audition and make it stereo, then bring back.

not sure it’s what you really want, but a workaround
    if you do.

I could be totally wrong, but I believe you need to remove it from all sequences before you can change the speaker assignment, or change it to “mono as stereo”.

You are correct Angelo. You must remove it from the sequence before you can modify it.

Or you can use the appropriate Audio Effect (Fill Left or Fill Right) to send mono out both tracks WITHOUT modifying the clip , if it is more convenient.

Did you check the mixer? Is the audio panned?

Another possibility is that the Master is set to 16 Channel.
