For Mac work and FCP it’s a must to have the Red Rocket card, or else wait weeks for renders. What does Vegas need?

I’ve searched this forum and the Cow Red forum for information about editing Red Camera footage in Vegas. Must be information somewhere but I can’t find it. Suggestions/answers?

Thanks Spot. That’s pretty amazing — editing Red files in native raw state. For FCP you have to render them out first, and for that you need a very expensive Red Rocket card.

    A couple of questions:
    — how many layers can an “uber” PC handle with these raw files? Suppose you have five images playing in windows, all at once. Can a strong computer handle that?
    — what about rendering the final edited piece. How slow is that? (For the Mac you really must have that expensive Red Rocket card for this stage too.)
    — what about keyed color correcting, as we know and love in “regular” Vegas — can one do that successfully or is it noisy?

It does look to me like Vegas is in an early stage of development for the Red. For instance, no way to copy the file settings from one clip and paste onto the rest of the clips, as you can do with ordinary FX.

    Thanks,

How good does the Red Rocket Card work in Vegas, and what mother board, and processor would be needed.

    Thanks

I’m wondering the same thing. I’ve got a RED Rocket installed, but it’s hard to tell if I need to activate something within Vegas.

Also, when I alter the RED RAW settings in Vegas (File Format Properties), my changes don’t show in the preview window until I hit OK. How do I make those changes update as I make them?

    Thanks!

to answer your question, I am using an external monitor, to monitor my output, and it updates in realtime.

My question is = Does your red rocket give you more editing power for 4K files?
    Thanks
