Red Camera work flow tech specifications
I am have a Dual 1.8 Ghz PowerPC G5 ( a few years old)
Can the Red Camera be used with this computer or do I need to have a Mac Pro intel computer?What is the best work flow for the Red Camera and is there any good instructions on line?

you could probably twist and turn stuff enough to bring footage in fcp…
however, your system is not supported to work with RED, and probably too weak to handle these files properly.
all RED tools to import, convert, and modify RED files are for intel macs
at least that’s what their support page says. i haven’t tried to run RED apps on PPC

one of our systems is a 17″ macbook pro from earlier version, and, depending on the HD connected, it handles RED files good enough.
i saw a friend working with a 2 year old 15″ and it still worked.
however.. even on a strong 8 core system. RED workflows tend to be needy, the more you have, the better it will handle.
maybe its a good time to upgrade 🙂

as Hector said, it probably could work.
you will need to have the footage transcoded to ProRes or dvcpro-hd or uncompressed
(and with a fast disk array) in order to do it.I’ve done several RED projects recently, but I don’t run intel macs
yet so I pay a facility to transcode all the files for me in advance
of the editing.
