Hey guys, Im having this problem that when i import a video from my documents to after effects it seems to blink red at random frames. The videos themselves do not blink red outside of AE but only when i put them in. It blinks in the ram preview and render. I render the videos as Quicktime H.264. does anyone know how to fix it?

All i know about AE is that its
    2015.3 release
    version 13.8.0.144
    6% used of 3.9GB

and im also running windows 10. I know nothing more about this computer. The red flashings take up the whole screen at random frames of the video. there really isnt a pattern to it. it happens when i import a video file to after effects. and it flashes the same way when i render the composition. ive seen other questions similar but they dont really cover my problem. It happens no matter how many layers i have and i just started having this problem after i recently updated it.

It’s been happening in After Effects and Premiere for years. There are different explanations for it that may or may not make sense, but usually transcoding the footage seems to solve it.

You can convert your footage to another format such as ProRes or DNxHD using Adobe Media Encoder and import the new version into After Effects.

Red frames often indicate a decoder failure:

    There is a bug.
There is a temporary fix you can do yourself.
