Hello. I have two versions of Photoshop. In the older one when I select areas with Rectangular Marquee Tool, after selecting it, I can move this area to the proper space I want without moving elements if i don’t switch to tool Move. However, in the newer version, once I make a selection with the Rectangular Marquee Tool, it automatically switches to a subtraction mode, indicated by the X icon in the bottom right corner. This means I can only subtract from the initial selection, which is really frustrating. I prefer the behavior of the older version. Is there a way to revert to that setting? Thanks for all

I was trying the Rectangular Marquee Tool myself last night on Photoshop 2024 and it does not seem to take me automatically to substraction. Seems to be an option. If you were able to screenshot or record a video clip of the exact issue so I can observe it. Perhaps I can point out what happened and come up with a solution for you there. I found a link where you can go through the tutorial to see if something said here can give you an idea on whats going on in your end. This page was posted like 4 days ago so it should be on the latest Photoshop version: https://fixthephoto.com/how-to-use-the-marquee-tool-in-photoshop.html
