Rectangle to sphere particles

I’ve come across an effect that I can’t seem to figure out by searching Youtube or just my own general knowledge of these kinds of effects.

I’ll keep trying different approaches, but hopefully someone already has a solution to this effect.

That’s an awesome share but was not able to come up with a solution from watching it. Hopefully someone will be able to shine a light on this!
