recreating a Credit Report Commercial
Hello,
I’m working on a project that uses 4 people on stage to recreate a FREE CREDIT REPORT commercial where all the talent is in a big white empty studio seemingly.
I shot all my talent in a green studio using 1920×1080 (Panasonic HMC-150), logged and transfered into Pro Res 444 via final cut pro and am now wanting to choose the best “takes”, key the footage, and create my band in my fake studio using a mix of wides, mediums, and closes. We shot our talent at wide, medium and closes ranges and using numerous angles around them for complete coverage.
Is motion 4 the program for this project? Motion doesn’t seem to offer great keying options unless you buy 3rd party, which I’m not apposed to.
Any suggestions on workflow?

Should we just be learning after affects!

After Effects would be my suggestion if you’re not happy with the green screening capabilities of Motion.

I have to say, you cant beat keylight ( after effects ) at all. I am hardcore for Motion on most things but keying i will always do in after effects or final cut (using the third party keylight plugin).
I would normaly do all my edits in my premiere or final cut. Then bring the footage to after effects to key. Then bring it to motion for compositing. I know its a pain to transfer all of that but thats how you get the best results or you can spend the money for keylight for final cut and skip the after effects step and go straight from final cut to motion.

I key my footage in FCP and then export out as a Animaiton clip. Then import into Motion. I have found that Motion’s keyer can do a good job if it is a close up. But it stinks at full body stuff.

Motion can also use plug-in keyers as well. Any keyer your FCP can bring in, I think is available to Motion, at least it is on my setup. My Big Gun is usually AdvantEdge. But I mostly work in DV25 resolution, in Motion 3.
