Recovering Media Through Render Files?
We’re currently working on a film and recently lost both of our drives containing interview footage. We’ve recovered some of the interviews from Raw files and put them back in to the timeline but it looks like other interviews won’t be recoverable. Two data recovery companies have tried and failed to recover the data.
However, upon opening the sequence to add in the recovered interviews from the Raw data, I’m noticing that two of the interviews show video with no audio even though they are listed as “Offline”. When I click on “reveal in finder” the clip is not found.
I’m wondering if it might be possible to recover the media through what looks like could be the render files?
Thoughts?

You can have the video, but no audio.
Move those render files out of the render bin, like now.
And did you try Drive Savers?

No, we’ve sent it to WeRecoverData and they were unsuccessful. Now, both drives are at Ximatic. Sounds like its not worth just have the video files with no audio for an interview…

Yeah, I would think it would be hard with no audio. 🙂
What exactly happened to your drives?

The recovery teams have guessed that they may have been fried with an electrical surge. No one is really sure but one company said that the firmware card is dead so they can’t do a recovery. This is obviously not my expertise but that’s what I’ve been told.
