    Hi,

Hope this is the right place to post this!

We have received footage from a videographer (who has shot on a Sony A7s mk ii) but two of the files have been corrupted. There is data there as each file is between 2 and 4 Gb.

Encore identifies the files as corrupt, and i’m now scratching my head whilst searching through Google.

The footage is from a stage show, so unfortunately we are unable to reshoot.

All the files are MP4 and in the H.264 codec, but the two files in question don’t show any codec information…i’m guessing the camera either turned off/or they changed the battery with stopping the recording.

    Can anyone offer any advice?

    Thanks

Hmm…I know there’s a block of code in every video file, the indexing information, that allows the software to know where the encoding starts and stops, and that if that isn’t present, most programs won’t be able to read the file. And usually, that indexing is the last thing written to the card–so that’s usually what’s missing if the battery gets pulled mid-shot.

Try VLC to see if you can look at anything–it’s less dependent on those. Avidemux might be able to salvage and re-transcode the file for you: https://www.videohelp.com/software/AviDemux
