Disk Warrior might be helpful, but you never know. If the problem is purely hardware related, such as a bad power supply or damaged platters, it might not help. But, then again, it just might.

I’ll second Data Rescue, it has saved my ass a few times.

Ironically, Adobe Bridge was able to see files that other programs could not.
