Recover Jammed and Damaged Tape – I Hope! Arrrrrrrgh…
Well, yes. Tape jammed, DSR is frozen, important footage on tape. Scary….
Primary Question: Is there anyone who could take my probably damaged tape (broken/cut/bad cassette?) and make a dub of it?
– Contact info?
– (I can’t lean on producer friends in case the tape jams their deck too.)
– (The local techs are not up to recovering a damaged/broken/cut tape that they remove from the deck)Secondary Question: The ideal: I drive/overnight the deck to a tech who could remove the tape; service the DSR as needed; make a dub of the bad tape; overnight it back. Possible? Who do you recommend? The DSR 11 is under warranty.
Third Question: Help! What do I know? Any suggestions are welcome! *Are there any magic button combinations to use to force ejection or ?
COMPONENTS
Deck: Sony DSR 11
Tape: Sony MiniDV DVM60 – ME
Footage: “Priceless”THE PROBLEM:
Tape is jammed in a threaded position (or partially threaded – or maybe the rewind/FFwd position). DSR11 is now in a “mid-action loop”. That is, it cycles through trying to either finish threading or ejecting or ? – over and over (brief pause between cycles). It does NOT respond to any button press, AND it won’t respond to the power button. To stop it, I disconnect the power cable.PRE-PROBLEM:
Odd sound (not too significant sound) while rewinding from the end of the recently shot tape. No time code showing (read?) while rewinding. It stopped rewinding, on its own, prior to head of tape. While playing, it presented no picture nor time code. While either rewinding or fast forwarding it came to a stop in the current condition.Ouch-man, this is b a d . Any ideas out there????
Thank you MUCH!
