i tried to record a live session tonight with only 10 inputs.

after 18 minutes it stopped recording (the wave boxes disappeared), but the cursor kept moving (like when you press play).

I checked that there was enough room (there was 50GB free), i checked that the screensaver or anything else was not running in the background (nothing interfering at all)!

not only this, but every so often a “beep” would be recorded too, on a range of tracks.

i’m using the m-audio fast track ultra 8r and ASIO4ALL driver (as I’m also using another USB soundcard).

    any ideas?

Is there a reason your not using the ASIO drivers from M-Audio. (Probably so you could use the second audio device)I understand that.
Using 2 different types of audio capture devices might be causing timing problems leading to the crash.

Some things that may help would be to have more ram memory while using a 64 bit OS. A second hard drive for data only.
I remember hearing that the M-audio Ultra 8 device can be used with a second Ultra 8 to record up to 16 inputs at once.
