What would you recommend being the best way to record screen activity for later import into AE for adding text and effects?

What I need to do is to get software engineers to record examples of what an application can do in real time using some relatively simple screen dump tool, and then give the recorded files to me, to which I can then add text and effects to turn them into little sales pitches the Sales people can use on the web or in PPTs, etc.

I’ve tried using SnagIt, but I’m beginning to understand that the AVI format isn’t ideal for importing into AE?

What screen recording software would you recommend to make the process as problem-free as possible?

My first-born is up for grabs for the one who can stop the continued proliferation of gray hairs on my head…

Camtasia is pretty great. Has a free one month demo but it’s easily worth the 200-300 bucks they charge.

Thanks. I’ve acquired Camtasia and am busy checking it out.

Do you have any experience and/or advice on which format to export to best interact with AE? (The final AE project is going to be exported into WMV.)
