recording in humidity environments
… I’ll need to take some scenes in the swimming pool area of a sports club.. however, I just went the other day for “scouting” and notice traces of condensation in my camera (EX3)… the pool area is inside the club making the place a high humidity environment…
..How long is it safe (for the EX3) to stay inside the area making the recording ??… The condensation happens very fast on the lens and viewfinder, is it safe to “clean” them (with a proper lens cloth) to make the proper adjustments ?? … somebody told me that I need to let the camera “rest” in the place for some minutes (before recording) to take the new temperature and conditions … I think the EX series are rugged enough (I remember small tape camcorders that shuts down under certain conditions), but just want to ask the experts…Kind Regards

Hi Enrique,
I live in a place very, very wet half of the year.
Never had problems with the EX-1.
The condensation out in the lens can be annoying, but I don’t think much harmful.
Beware on the condensation you can get inside the lens when passing from a worm place to somewhere with air-con.
BTW, I think that must be some product to avoid the condensation.

PS: If Safari wouldn’t have such good “spell corrector” probably Ron would end up banning me from the COW. -
If you have time put the camera in a plastic bag or wrap and let it warm up before you enter the pool area.
I have also put a camera on the floor of my car and blasted the heater for a few minutes. The colder camera body is what causes the condensation… if you warm it up no droplets will appear.
