    Can I hook up my tape deck with a firewire 400 to 800 cable to my MacBook Pro and capture my video? I know it should work, but I’ve never done this before so I just want to verify before I order the cables I need. I would be using a standard firewire 400 to 800 cable. And the drive I would be recording onto is G-Tech G-Drive Q.

    Yes, but you should really put the deck and fw drive on different busses.
