Recording Audio Voice Tracks
Quick question…and again apologies if this has been raised before..i am sure it has.
What is the best way to utilize Vegas…(i have vegas pro 9e) to record voice tracks for narration?
In the past I have used an old version of Adobe Audition….to record voice tracks…but I’d like to be able to do everything with Vegas.
I understand how to record the tracks into a timeline…thats all straightforward…however…unless i am mistaken the audio files that i will render out….either .wav or .mp3 …are going to be larger per second than if i used just an audio editing program? I.e. when i setup the project to record the Audio tracks I need to select some kind of project setting that is associated with video..i.e. some kind of DV ..or HD or HDV…. (I am not necessarily going to use the audio voice tracks to go into an edit I am doing on Vegas….but sometimes i need to send voice tracks to a client who is doing the actual editing) Anyway…not sure if it does make a difference…but just wondering if there was any kind of ‘audio only’ project setting??/ apologies again if this has been answered before…thanks -

I’m not sure why you would think that but, No… you are mistaken. The audio record with Vegas Pro is the same audio as any other audio editor would record. Just disable Quantize to frames (Alt+F8) and you’re good to go.

It doesn’t matter what video properties you select if you are not rendering video. Just make sure the Audio tab of you project is set to the correct sample rate and bit depth for your recordings.
