Does anyone know if it’s possible to output from FCP via firewire using the source timecodes from digitized tapes? I want the source timecodes in order to backup the footage I digitized. I’m trying to avoid another deck rental to transfer the footage from DVCPRO to DV with original timecodes.

    Thanks!

I did come up with a slight workaround…I think. If I set the timeline timecode to match the source I could output each file one at a time. Would be tedious but should work.

    unless you have timecode breaks.

I do have breaks because it was recorded with time of day timecode. That’s why I’d have to export each clip separately. So unless someone else has another option that’s what I’ll have to do. Thanks.

you would need to stripe a tape with more or less similar TC breaks and letting some handles for pre-roll and post-roll. Then Edit To Tape (Video and Audio insert) matching the footage TC.
If somebody would ask me to do that, I just would say that is no possible.
If they would insist, I would try to charge them so expensive that they would drop the idea.
